In a televised speech given on Wednesday night to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the Hezbollah victory over Israel in the 33-day war of 2006, Nasrallah said the enemies want to pit the Shias, Sunnis, and Christians against each other, and thus “all should be vigilant in the face of sedition and respect the beliefs and views of each other.”

He specifically insisted that the Shias must be aware that there are groups who are seeking to provoke them but they should remain calm and avoid falling into the trap of the seditionists.

He added, “Our silence toward internal developments is not a sign of weakness. We seek calm and stability in Lebanon.”

He pointed to some hostile moves against Shias in certain Arab countries and said that Shia and Sunni ulema should be on guard about plots and respect each other’s religious beliefs.

He also stated that the problems in Lebanon should be resolved through dialogue, adding that Hezbollah is making every effort to ensure that “we will never be the cause of a rift.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Nasrallah said the arms of Hezbollah will only be used to defend Lebanon from Israeli aggression and this is “the main policy of Hezbollah.”

Nasrallah also said the Lebanese resistance movement can win any potential war in the future.

“Israelis are still suffering from the shock of their defeat in the 33-day war,” he added, noting that the Zionist regime is still investigating the reasons behind their defeat in the 2006 war.

“Two hundred and fifty rockets were launched at Israel on the last day of the July war,” he said, recalling how then Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert described the defeat as ‘catastrophic’.

U.S. and Israeli have hatched plot against Syria

The Hezbollah leader also said the West, headed by the United States, is trying to prevent dialogue on Syria and is supporting terrorist activities in the country.

There is a U.S.-Israeli plot against Syria, he stated, adding, “The U.S. and Israel view Syria as a problem because Syria is a real supporter of the resistance.”

He also accused the West of heaping pressure on Iran because it supports the Palestinian cause. However, he scoffed at the U.S. attempts to undermine Iran's sovereignty, saying all the pressure has actually strengthened the Islamic Republic of Iran.
