ISLAMABAD A group of unidentified armed men Sunday night failed in their assassination attempt on the life of an Iranian diplomat in Islamabad, announced an informed source at the Iranian Embassy here Monday. According to the source, the terrorists were waiting in a vehicle parked in front of the diplomat's residence. They were noticed by the diplomat who hurried away in his car.

Some shots were fired by the assailants who immediately left the scene. The diplomat was not injured in the incident. The embassy is planning to send a protest note to Pakistani authorities, said the embassy source. (IRNA)
