Metro Locomotives Damaged in Sea

TEHRAN Several Tehran underground locomotives were sank in the sea route between Iran and China in an accident of ship carrying the locomotives with another ship. A few weeks ago, the Chinese party to the contract with Tehran Underground Company dispatched six electrical locomotives ordered by Iran from the Shanghai harbor. A few day after the start off, the carrying vessel collided with a South Korean ship which sank.

It is said that the collision was so terrible that the locomotives were dislocated, with some badly damaged. According to a reliable source in Iranian Embassy to Beijing, the Chairman of Tehran Underground Company Mohsen Hashemi has held talks with the manufacturer and the company insuring the locomotives. There is no information available on the result of the Sale of the locomotives is said to be China's largest export project in Iran. This accident has not been covered by Chinese press.
