Iran Receives Inadequate Relief Aid From Intl. Organizations

TEHRAN Head of Iran's Red Crescent Society Seifollah Vahid Dastjerdi here Saturday stressed that Iran is among the first five countries of the world in terms of providing relief supplies, enjoying trained relief workers and advanced re He made the remark in a meeting with the visiting head of Islamic Research Center of South Africa Anwar Suleyman. Although the Islamic Republic is hosting the greatest number of foreign refugees, it does not receive adequate relief aid from international organizations, he added.

He further briefed Suleyman on the activities of Iran's Red Crescent Society in providing relief aid to refugees and homeless people throughout the globe, in the neighboring Afghanistan in particular. Referring to critical status of children in Iraq, Suleyman expressed the hope that the status of Iraqi Muslims will improve through cooperation of the Islamic states. (IRNA)
