PARIS (IRNA) -- Iran’s Ambassador to Paris said on Friday that the Iranian nation has been a major victim of weapons of mass destruction in the contemporary era.

Ali Ahani made the remark in an international confab on nuclear, biologic, and chemical disarmament.
By making use of over 2.5 million kg of chemical substances in its eight-year imposed war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Saddam regime committed one of the most savage criminal crimes against the Iranian nation, he added.
There are over 100,000 victims of chemical weapons in Iran, he said regretting the indifferent attitude of international bodies over crimes Saddam regime committed against humanity in Iran.
As to the atrocity of the Zionist regime in the region, Ahani said Israel, enjoying hundreds of nuclear warheads, is a big threat to the global peace.
Israel has rejected all international accords on disarmament and has not fulfilled its international commitments, he said, adding that Tel Aviv regime has also refused to honor all the UN Security Council resolutions.
The Iranian envoy further regretted that the Israeli regime, which is armed with various weapons of mass destruction, is enjoying discriminatory approach by the big powers.
As to Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, he stressed that Iranian nuclear program is an inalienable right of all nations, including the Islamic Republic, and Tehran by no means would withdraw from this legitimate right.
Referring to Iran’s constructive and sincere cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, Ahani said all reports and statements issued by IAEA Director-General, Mohamed ElBaradei, have approved that Iran has made no deviation from peaceful nuclear activities.
Briefing the audience on the latest developments in Iran’s nuclear program, he denounced move by certain Western states, including the U.S., to send Iran’s nuclear file to the UN Security Council.
He said the approach of Washington and its European allies, including France and Britain, regarding Iran are politically motivated and illegal, adding that by making allegations and misinformation campaign, the global arrogance has challenged Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
Ahani reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran would soon present its proposed package which has been compiled on the basis of mutual respect and facts to help settle the problems from which the international community is suffering.
