TEHRAN – The chairman of the Expediency Council said on Sunday night that all should avoid political division to bolster national solidarity.

Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani made the remarks in a ceremony of Iftar, according to IRNA.
He also said Ramadan is a good occasion to purify body and soul.

Rafsanjani outlined economic and cultural problems in the country, and urged the government and people to help resolve them.

Referring to the spread of terrorist groups in regional countries such as Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and some other countries, he said terrorist groups have escalated violence and created problems for the Muslim World.

“They try to sow discord to divide the Islamic religions,” he said.
