Iran to start FIVB Volleyball World League with Brazil

Iran will kick off the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League with a match against Brazil in Rio de Janeiro.

A total of the 12 teams were drawn in 9 pools of 4 teams in Group 1.

 In each pool, all teams will compete in round robin format. The results of all 9 pools will combine in 1 ranking table. The host and the top five ranked teams will play in the final round.

The last ranked team after the Intercontinental Round could be relegated if the winners of the Group 2 Final Round can meet the promotion requirements set by the FIVB.

Raul Lozano’s men will face Brazil in Group 1 Week One at the Arena Carioca 1 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Iran will face USA and Argentina on June 17 and 19 respectively.
 

In Week 2, Iran will meet Bulgaria on June 23 in Belgrade, Serbia. The Persians will play Brazil and Serbia on June 24 and 25 respectively.

In July 1, Iran will host Serbia in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in Week 3.

The Asian best team will face Italy on July 2 and Argentina on July 3.

The 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League will be the 27th edition of the annual men's international volleyball tournament played from 16 June to 17 July.

The tournament will feature a new format with 36 teams expected to compete.

The Group 1 final round will be held in Kraków, Poland.
