Iran’s non-oil exports projected to hit $50b by Mar. 2017

TEHRAN- Given the positive balance of Iran’s non-oil trade in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20- July 21, 2016), the country is expected to reach $50 billion worth of non-oil exports by the end of this calendar year (March 20, 2017), IRNA quoted Valiollah Afkhamirad, the head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) as saying on Tuesday.

Iran’s non-oil trade during the four-month period stood at $28 billion, with non-oil exports and imports standing at $16.308 billion and $12.865 billion, respectively, according to the latest report published by Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

The country’s worth of non-oil exports rose 21.11 percent during the mentioned time compared to the same period of time last year, while the worth of four-month imports fell 7.12 percent year on year. 

According to IRICA, in the past Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 19, 2016, the value of Iran’s non-oil trade reached over $83 billion.

In the past year, Iran exported $42.415 billion worth of goods while its imports reached $41.499 billion, showing a 16.11 percent decrease in the value of exports and a 22.53 percent decline in the value of imports when compared to its previous year.
