Iran’s annual agricultural output to rise to 117 million tons

TEHRAN- Iran’s annual output of agricultural products is planned to rise to 117 million tons in the current Iranian calendar year (will end on March 20, 2017) from 112 million tons in the previous year, according to an official in the Ministry of Agriculture.

Shahrokh Ramezan-Nejad, the secretary of headquarters to celebrate the Government Week (August 23-29) in the Ministry of Agriculture, put the worth of annual output at $77 billion in the preceding year, ISNA reported on Wednesday.

The official mentioned adopting modern engineering principles and advanced mechanization technology, developing modern irrigation systems, equipping and renovating agricultural lands and transferring the modern scientific methods to the farmers as some of the measures taken by the ministry within the two past years to boost efficiency in the agriculture sector.
