Oil, gas apt for expansion of Iran-Oman economic ties

TEHRAN - Iranian First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri in a meeting with Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Masud Al Sunaidy in Tehran on Monday mentioned oil and gas as sectors appropriate for the expansion of economic ties between Iran and Oman, the portal of Iranian administration reported.

Launching the project for building a pipeline to transfer Iran’s gas to Oman is fortunately in the final stages and the barriers should be removed as soon as possible, the official stated.

Jahangiri also said that Oman enjoys high potentials in different areas to turn into a trade hub in the region and Tehran is fully prepared to cooperate with Muscat in this due.

Referring to the launching of new shipping routes between the Omani ports of Khasab and Shinas and the Iranian port of Shahid Bahonar on Sunday, the official said that making connection between ports of the two countries provides proper opportunity for promotion of bilateral ties.

Al Sunaidy for his part said that while Tehran-Muscat relation is very good politically, their economic ties should be expanded.

“Of course we have witnessed high interest from Iranian and Omani traders and businessmen in the recent months to boost bilateral relations,” he noted.
