TEHRAN - One day after Iraq announced the start of the massive operation in Mosul to retake the second biggest city of the country from ISIS, the Iranian government spokesman said Tehran has no ground boots in Mosul.

“Iran has no ground forces in Mosul although it has assisted the country from the very beginning of the conflict through offering advisory help.” Mohammad Baqer Nobakht told a weekly press conference.

“Iran has no ground forces in Mosul although it has assisted the country from the very beginning of the conflict through offering advisory help.” Nobakht added Iran has always provided advisors to the Iraqi government.

He went on to say that Iran’s policy with respect to Iraq has always been very clear as declared by Iran’s foreign ministry, hoping for obliteration of terrorism in Iraq.
