TEHRAN – Iranian director Behruz Nuranipur’s “A157” won the award for best documentary at the 15th Signs of the Night International Festival in the Italian town of Urbino last week.

Produced by Iran’s Soureh Pictures Company, “A157” narrates the tragedy of three Kurdish girls who became pregnant after being raped by members of ISIS.

The film also received the Signs Award for Documentary from the student jury of the festival, which ended on April 7.

“The Horn”, a joint production of USA, Belgium and Colombia by Frederik Jan Depickere won the Signs Award, while “A Woman and Her Car” by Loic Darses from Canada received the Night Award.

The Signs Award for Documentary honors films, which portray sensible and perturbing aspects of reality in a surprising way.

“The War Show”, a joint production of USA and Denmark won the Main Award of this section while “Two Way Jesus” by Jet Leyco from the Philippines received the Night Award.

In addition, “A157” was awarded the Signs Award for Documentary at the French edition of the festival last December.
