TEHRAN – Works by Turkish calligrapher Ali Riza Özcan and his fellow miniaturist and illuminator Sehnaz Biçer Özcan are currently on display in an exhibition at the Iranian Book Design Institute in Tehran.

“Özcan’s calligraphy works created in thulth, divani and nastaliq styles,” the director of the institute, Hassan Mohammadi, said in a press release on Monday.

“His nastaliq works differ from the works created by Iranian calligraphers in this style,” he added.

Ali Riza Özcan is a lecturer at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul.

He also said, “In essence, Sehnaz Biçer Özcan’s works have elements of miniatures and illuminations dating back to the Ottoman period.”  

Sehnaz Biçer Özcan is a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul’s Marmara University. 

The two artists are scheduled to attend a joint session, which will be held on Thursday at 5 p.m.  

The exhibition, which has been organized under the auspices of the Tehran branch of Turkey’s Yunus Emre Institute, opened on Monday and will run for three more days at the institute located at 29 Felestin St.
