TEHRAN – An exhibition of miniature works by Behzad Bozorgi is underway at Tehran’s Vaali Gallery.

A collection of works inspired by Persian miniature but combined with calligraphy and paintings are being shown at “Girls of the Turquoise Land”, the gallery has announced in a press release.

Bozorgi began learning calligraphy inscription when he was 9 years old, and has been the student of master of miniature Mohammad Tajvidi for many years.

The artist has previously said that he found Persian miniature not as pleasing in recent years as it was before and decided to make a change.

“When I decided to make the change I thought of an abstract space with tangible patterns and the contrast of colors and the different colors in use have made the visitors first notice the colors and then the figures in particular,” he has remarked.

The exhibit will be running until May 16 at the gallery located at 72 Khoddami St. off Vanak Square.
