“The Descendants” honored at Longleaf Film Festival

TEHRAN – Iranian director Yaser Talebi’s short film “The Descendants” has won the Yonder Award at the Longleaf Film Festival in Raleigh in the U.S. state of North Carolina.

The award is presented to a film made outside of North Carolina.

“The Descendants” is about Jacob, an Iranian Jewish man who leaves Iran for Sweden to find his son, Farrokh, who was in the country to continue his studies but has not been in touch with his family for a long time.

“The Harrow” by the U.S. director Kevin Stocklin received the Narrative Feature Best Drama Award while “Nobody Dies Here” by French documentarian Simon Panay won the Judges’ Choice Award at the festival, which was held on May 12 and 13.
