Iran detains 41 connected to Tehran terrorist attacks

TEHRAN – Iran’s Intelligence Ministry issued a statement on Friday announcing that 41 elements connected to the Daesh operatives who carried out the Wednesday terrorist attacks in Tehran have been arrested.

“Following a chain of complicated intelligence operations and cooperation of families of some terrorists in Kermanshah, Kurdistan, West Azarbaijan and Tehran, 41 elements of the Wahhabi terrorist group of Daesh were arrested and some documents and equipment were seized,” the statement read.

In two simultaneous terrorist attacks on the administrative building of Iran’s Majlis and the shrine of Imam Khomeini in Tehran on Wednesday, 17 people were killed and 52 injured.

Daesh claimed responsibility for the attacks.

The Iranian Intelligence Ministry released on Thursday the names of the five terrorists who were killed after carrying out the deadly attacks.

In addition to the killed, one woman was arrested on Wednesday, who was said to lead the cell.

A funeral ceremony for the victims of the attacks was held on Friday.

President Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, and Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli-Larijani, Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammadi-Golpayegani - head of the office of the Supreme Leader- as well as a number of other officials, top ranking military commanders, and foreign ambassadors, survivors of the attacks and people from different walks of life attended the funeral procession.
