Parisian festival of Iranian films opens

TEHRAN – The 5th edition of the Cinema of Iran, a festival of Iranian films, opened at the Nouvel Odéon Cinema in Paris Wednesday.

A rich lineup of the latest movies, documentary films and shorts has been arranged and dozens of meetings and review sessions are scheduled to be held during the festival, the organizers announced. 

“The Secret of Baran” by Majid Majidi, “The Blue Veil” by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad and “Take Me Home” by Abbas Kiarostami are among the movies to be screened.

Also included are “76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami” by Seifollah Samadian and “From the Shadow to the Light” by Nazanin Sobhan Sarbandi.

The acclaimed acid attack drama “Lanturi” will also be screened as director Reza Dormishian and the film’s star, Navid Mohammadzadeh, are currently in Paris to attend a review session at the festival, which will run until June 20.
