TEHRAN – In a message on Sunday, President Hassan Rouhani of Iran congratulated Belgian National Day to the country’s king, government, and people.

In the message to King Philippe, Rouhani wished the king and the Belgian people success, welfare, and prosperity, Rouhani’s official website reported.

Belgian National Day commemorates an event dating to July 21, 1831 in which Leopold of Saxe-Cobourg swore allegiance to the new Belgian constitution, thus becoming the nation’s first monarch.
