Indie Iranian publishers increase their share of Frankfurt Book Fair

TEHRAN – Iranian independent publishers will have a greater presence at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2017 by increasing the number of active companies to 19 at the major world cultural event, Iran Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI) director Amir-Masud Shahramnia said on Thursday.

“The Gooya House of Culture and Art, (London-based Iranian-British company) Candle and Fog, Salis, Qoqnu, and Amirkabir are among the participating publishers,” he told the Persian service of IRNA.

“The Iranian literary agencies of Kia, Tamas and Pol will also attend the fair,” he remarked.

Shahramnia also added that several Iranian writers, translators and literary activists will be among the guests attending the fair.

They include children’s book writer Mostafa Rahmandust, Mahumd Barabadi, Mohamamdreza Shams, as well as writers and translators Shiva Moqanlu and Gholamreza Emami.

The Frankfurt Book Fair will take place from October 11 to 15.
