TEHRAN – The sanctions by the hegemonic system will not affect Iran’s the missile program because it is an indigenous technology, the armed forces chief of staff said on Tuesday.

“The Islamic Iran is in excellent condition from defensive point of view which is revealed by deterrent power and altruism of the Iranian forces,” Major General Mohammad Baqeri told reporters on the sidelines of police and border guard exhibition in the northwestern city of Urmia.

He added Iranian missiles are capable of hitting targets with high precision.

However, he said, “Iran’s missiles are designed and manufactured for defense purposes and we do not intend to attack any country.”

The top general added given the Islamic teachings, Iran does not and will not build missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
