Rakhshan Bani-Etemad to receive lifetime achievement award from Turkish festival

TEHRAN – The 7th Malatya International Film Festival in Turkey will honor the renowned Iranian filmmaker Rakhshan Bani-Etemad with a lifetime achievement award during its closing ceremony on November 16, the organizers announced on Friday.

Bani-Etemad is also scheduled to attend a review session after the screening of her 1995 acclaimed drama “The Blue-Veiled” at the festival on November 15.

Prominent Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, who is also the star of “The Blue-Veiled”, is one of the jury members of the festival, which will open on November 9.

In addition, Iranian films “The Blockage” by Mohsen Qarai and “Mothering” by Roqieh Tavakkoli will be screened in the main competition of the event.

The Iranian short films “Common Hole” by Asma Ebrahimzadegan and “Voice” by Dariush Najafigol will also be screened at the festival.
