Art workshop promoting Arbaeen rituals opens in Kufa

TEHRAN – An art workshop promoting concepts of Ashura and Arbaeen rituals opened next to the Great Mosque of Kufa in Iraq on Saturday.

Abdolhamid Qadirian, Mohammad-Saeid Naqashian, Ali Chiti, Ali-Akbar Sharifi, Hossein Sheikhalishahi, Hossein Dashti and several other Iranian artists have attended the workshop, Persian media reported on Monday.

The workshop is part of the Liqa Al-Hussain International Congress, which opened in the Islamic University in Najaf on Saturday and will come to an end at the Imam Hussein Research Center in Karbala on Wednesday.

The artworks, which are being created during the workshop, will go on display in an exhibition at the Imam Hussein Research Center in Karbala on Wednesday.

Arbaeen is the end of the 40-day mourning period following the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions on Ashura, the 10th of Muharram when Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions were martyred.
