Iranian media delegation visits China

TEHRAN – An Iranian media delegation paid a six-day visit to China starting on November 13. The visit is aiming at expanding media cooperation between the two countries.

The delegation includes directors from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and news agencies.

The delegation held a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to China Ali Asghar Khaji as well.

On Wednesday, the delegation visited the China Radio International. 

Mohammad Jafar Safi, director general of the Foreign Media Department at Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, praised efforts being made by Persian service of the China Radio International which plays an important role in introducing the Iranian culture to the Chinese people.

An official at the radio said that the U.S. and some other Western countries should not have the dominant power in media.

He added that Iran and China should cooperate to counter the dominance of the Western media outlets.

He also noted that the Western media have “biased” views toward the Chinese media and avoid cooperation with China.

The China Radio International cooperate with a number of the Iranian media including IRNA, he added. 

The Iranian media delegation also visited China Global Television Network on Wednesday.

On November 14, the delegation paid a visit to Guang Ming Daily and talked with a number of its reporters.
