December 25, 2017

TEHRAN – The Kaliveh Music Group will give a concert titled “Melodies of the Orient” at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on Saturday night to celebrate the New Year in solidarity with Iranian Christians.

Seven vocalists each will perform songs from various cultures during the concert, bandleader Sara Ahmadi told the Persian service of MNA on Monday.

A repertoire of songs from the Iranian regions of Lorestan, Khorasan and Kordestan has been arranged for the first part of the concert. Ali Naderi, Mohsen Mirzazadeh and Foad Pishva are the singers for this part.

Iranian-Armenian singer Edvard Abrahamian is scheduled to perform the songs “You Wish for That” and “I’m an Armenian”, while Kabir Masumi will sing pieces from India and Pakistan in the second part.

This part will also feature some Afghan and Tajik songs by Aref Jafari, and some Turkish and Azarbaijani songs by Ali Tanha.

The group also plans to unveil a daf, an Iranian percussion instrument bearing signatures of a large number of musicians from around the world.

The group collected the signatures during a music festival in Mexico in June.
