121-year-old Iranian sailor getting pension

TEHRAN — A 121-year-old sailor who is one of the oldest pensioners in Iran is living in Soza village, the Persian Gulf island of Qeshm.

Born on May 1, 1896, Ali Rejestry Ramkani has married four times, all for love as he himself explained, but he had no children with his first three wives. His current wife gave birth to 18 children of which 6 are already alive.

His oldest child in now 70 years old and he has 33 grandchildren and 45 grand grandchildren, according to ISNA.

“I used to work on a ship and I was a fisherman, I loved my job,” Rejestry who is now suffering from Alzheimer’s said.    

He has been qualified for pension some 12 years ago and is among the 30 pensioners age above 100 years old in Iran. However, the monthly 11-million-rials (nearly $275) is hardly enough to make a living.
