Movies from Iran selected to screen at intl. events

TEHRAN – Eight Iranian films will go on screen at three international festivals in the United States and Canada during January.

Iranian-Armenian filmmaker Anahid Abad’s “Yeva”, Majid Majidi’s “Beyond the Clouds” and Vahid Jalilvand’s acclaimed film “No Date, No Signature” will go on screen at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in the U.S. city from January 2 to 15.

“Release from Heaven”, an acclaimed animation by Ali Nuri Oskui, will be screened at the International Peace and Film Festival, which will run in the U.S. city of Orlando from January 18 to 20.

The film is about a female writer and teacher who accompanies two of her students on an inner spiritual journey in a war-torn country.

“White Shadows” by Mehdi Amini, “Track” by Reza Golchin and “Hypnotism” by Arshia Zeinali will also go on screen in the short film section of the festival.

The Canada Independent Film Festival, which is scheduled to be held in Montréal on January 26, will screen “Life without Life” by Kaveh Moeinfar.

The film is about Satyar, a music teacher whose father is fighting cancer, but amid music and death, life goes on.
