TEHRAN – Iranian animator Amin Haqshenas and actor Jaleh Olov has collaborated with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in the production of “Save the Earth”, an animation about climate change and its consequences for the earth.

The animated film has been directed by Haqshenas and Olov worked as narrator on the project, which has been financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the United Nations Information Center in Tehran announced on Wednesday.

“Save the Earth” has been produced in line with the UNIDO’s project “Industrial Energy Efficiency in Key Sectors”.

The project, which was implemented from August 2012 to July 2017, intended to promote energy efficiency in five key sectors by adopting a national framework for Energy Management Standards (EnMS).

“Producing this animation in Farsi aimed to introduce the consequences of climate change for industries plus mentioning the negative effect of overusing fossil fuels in industries on the earth, plus the necessity of applying energy efficiency to industries in Iran,” said Nasim Shekari, the national coordinator of the project.

The animated movie implies that energy efficiency is one of the key solutions for combating climate change.

Shekari said animation is one of the most effective media for increasing awareness on energy saving.  “As climate change is one of the biggest challenges that the earth is facing, we tried in this animation to deliver some information on this issue and energy efficiency,” she stated.
