TEHRAN - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Sunday strongly condemned attack on Afghan Intercontinental Hotel which left at least 22 people killed.

“Undoubtedly, those who cause fear and kill people in order to reach their plots should learn lesson from the fate of Takfiri terrorism in the region during the past months,” he said.

Gunmen in army uniforms entered the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul on Saturday detonating explosives and taking people hostage. The attack left at least 22 people killed.

Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Intercontinental Hotel was attacked by the Taliban in June 2011, when a bombing killed 21 people, including 10 civilians.

Afghanistan has been target of terrorist attacks in past months including a bomb at a Shia cultural center last month that killed more than 40 people.
