Fajr festival to pay tribute to Ali Moallem

TEHRAN – The 36th Fajr Film Festival plans to pay a posthumous tribute to film producer Ali Moallem, the organizers announced on Tuesday.

Moallem will be commemorated in a special program during the opening ceremony of the event at Tehran’s Miald Tower on Thursday, the secretary of the festival, Ebrahim Darughehzadeh said in a press conference.

Moallem, who was also the founder of the Hafez Awards, Iran’s first and only private awards in film industry, died of a heart attack in March 2017.

In addition, dubber Manuchehr Esmaeili, filmmaker Mohammad Ali Najafi and actor Akbar Abdi will be honored with lifetime achievement awards during the ceremony.

The 36th Fajr Film Festival will be held in Tehran from February 1 to 11.
