Films from Iran to compete in intl. festivals

TEHRAN – Several international festivals will screen a number of films from Iranian cinema during March and April.

“Pet Man” by director Marzieh Abrarpaidar will be competing in the Animated Arizona Film Festival running in the U.S city of Tucson on March 31 and April 1, Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center that is the producer of the film announced on Tuesday.

The animation will also go on screen at the Cinema Planeta, a festival of environmental films that will be held in Mexico from April 24 to 29.

The 2D animation is the story of an animal dealer who falls asleep in his shop and has a nightmare in which he finds himself caught in an animal cage. He manages to escape and seeks to rescue other animals, but every time he is faced with an obstacle. He finally awakes from his nightmare but still feels surrounded with uncertainty and fear of the animals.

The Skepto International Film Festival running in the Italian city of Cagliari from April 18 to 21 will also screen the short movies “I Love You” by Babak Habibifar and “Duel” by Mohammadreza Kheradmandan.
