Toronto center to remember actor Levon Haftvan

TEHRAN – The Phoenix Cultural Center of Toronto plans to commemorate the recently-deceased Iranian actor Levon Haftvan in a special program on March 18, the center announced on Tuesday.

“Kupal”, his latest film directed by Kazem Mollai, will be screened during the program at Regent Theatre.

In “Kupal”, Haftvan portrayed a hunter and taxidermist called “Dr. Ahmad Kupal” who faces an unexpected challenge just moments before the arrival of the New Year.

A number his colleagues and critics will also speak after the screening of the film, for which he won the award for best actor at the Hamilton Film Festival in 2017.

Haftvan suffered a heart attack last Friday night while acting in a scene in the TV series “Bride of Darkness”. He was taken to the hospital where he passed away the next day at the age of 51.  

Among his credits are also “Fat Shaker”, “Parviz”, “The Man Who Became a Horse” and “Dracula”.
