Iran, U.S. diplomats hold mutual talks on JCPOA: source

TEHRAN – The Iranian diplomatic team visiting Vienna for regular talks on the implementation of the nuclear deal (JCPOA) has said diplomats from Iran and the U.S. were likely to hold mutual talks on Friday on the international nuclear agreement, an source close to the Iranian diplomatic team said on Friday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source told IRNA late on Friday that after a 3-hour talks with nuclear deal parties under the JCPOA Joint Commission, Iran’s top diplomat Abbas Araqchi would likely hold two-sided meetings with the participating sides, including Americans, “in a few hours”.

Representatives of Iran and other parties to the deal - the U.S., UK, Germany, France, China, Russia, and the EU - set up the latest round of the commission at 11:00 Vienna time.

Reports said the sides specifically talked about removal of sanctions on Iran as well as Washington’s instances of breaching the deal.

Managing Director of Iran Air (Homa) Farzaneh Sharafbafi, who was a member of the Iranian team, said the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) certificates in aviation field had also been discussed in the commission meeting.
