Tunisia edge past Iran in friendly

TEHRAN – Tunisia national football team defeated Iran 1-0 in a friendly match Friday night.

In the match held at the Stade 7 Novembre de Rades, Milad Mohammadi scored an own goal in the 71st minute.

Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand attempted to clear Tunisia midfielder Wahbi Khazri’s shot but Mohammadi inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.

Iran are in Group B together with Spain, Portugal, Morocco and their opening game will be with Morocco on June 15.

Tunisia, known as Carthage Eagles, are in Group G with Belgium, England and Panama and in their first game will play against England on June 18.

Iran will next play Algeria on Tuesday in Graz, Austria.
