Fairly powerful quake shakes western Iran

Tehran-- An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck weatern city of Sarpol Zahab, Kermanshah Province.

According to the data released by Iranian Seismological Center affiliated to the University of Tehran the earthquake occured 8 kilometeres beneath the earth's surface at 1:05 p.m. local time.

No further detail is revealed on the possible destructions and casualties caused by the quake.

A magnitude 7.3 earthquake which decimated a lot of villages across the western province of Iran as well as Sarpol Zahab on November 12, 2017 left many displaced and killed hundreds.
