TEHRAN – Iranian actor/director Reza Kianian will stage an adaptation of “The Professional”, a play by Serbian playwright and director Dusan Kovacevic, at the Crow’s Theatre in Toronto on May 26 and 27.

Hedayat Hashemi, Diana Fat’hi and Saeid Malek are other members of the cast, while Kianian’s son Ali will also collaborate in the project as a composer, the Canadian theater has announced.

Originally written in 1990 by Kovacevic, “The Professional” is a situation comedy that tells the story of a former university professor named Theodor, who is a bohemian writer, a member of Belgrade’s intellectual circles and a passionate opponent of the regime of the Serbian and Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic.

Kovacevic’s works have been translated into numerous languages in the world.

The play, which will be performed in Persian, is due to be staged in Montreal and Vancouver as well.

Kianian staged the play in Tehran last year with a different cast.
