TEHRAN – Iran’s Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Masoud Soltanifar in a message on Saturday congratulated the championship of Iranian team in the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship.

Team Melli retained their AFC Women’s Futsal Championship with a 5-2 win over Japan in the second edition of the competition held in Bangkok, Thailand.

A hat-trick to Sara Shirbeigi and further goals to tournament MVP Fereshteh Karimi and veteran Fahimeh Zarei sealed an outstanding victory for Sharhzad Mozafar’s side.

“I congratulate the players, coaches and officials in charge of this sporting event on the valuable success,” he said.

“Booking a place in the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is very precious. The Iranian women proved that they are deserved to win the title,” Soltanifar added.
