TEHRAN – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanai held a meeting on Friday to discuss the Iran nuclear deal, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“Sergei Ryabkov and Mehdi Sanai have discussed the prospects for maintaining the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) for Iran’s nuclear program and other pressing global issues,” the statement read.

The meeting came after U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear deal caused concerns over the future of the multilateral agreement, which was struck between Iran and six world powers.
