TEHRAN – The Iranian government will stand alongside Iraqis and support their decisions, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Monday.

Shamkhani made the remarks in a meeting with Iraq’s National Security Advisor Falih al Fayyadh, as the two sides discussed bilateral relations and regional developments, Fars reported.

The remarks by Shamkhani comes as Iraqi political parties and factions are seeking to form a new coalition government following the recent parliamentary elections.

Shamkhani also lauded the Iraqi nation’s resilience and the Iraqi army’s bravery in the fight against terrorism.
