Iran, Austria renew energy co-op agreement

TEHRAN – Tehran and Vienna extended the energy cooperation agreement which was signed between Iranian oil ministry and Austria’s energy ministry, Shana reported on Thursday quoting Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs and Trading Amir-Hossein Zamaninia.

Zamaninia, who accompanied President Hassan Rouhani in his visit to Switzerland and Austria, noted that the agreement includes cooperation in various areas including oil and gas, investment in renewable energies and education.
The official noted that the two sides also discussed Iran’s oil and gas exports to the European country.
“During the Joint Energy Committee meeting we discussed gas exports to the European countries. We also negotiated oil and gas trade issues with the Austrian authorities.”
The deputy further explained that Austria has suggested Iran to export gas to Europe through the Caspian Sea borders and Iran is also interested in this regard.
