Iran condemns assassination attempt on Venezuelan president

TEHRAN – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi on Sunday denounced assassination attempt on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

According to the Foreign Ministry website, Qassemi condemned the attempt and described it as a move to create instability and insecurity in Venezuela. He also said the attempt served the interests of the enemies of the Venezuelan government and nation.

Seven National Guard soldiers were injured after explosions interrupted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s mid-speech during a military event in Caracas, Saturday. The Venezuelan government has confirmed that the explosions were an “assassination attempt” on Maduro.
