Rouhani condoles Italy on fatal bridge collapse

TEHRAN – President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday sent a letter to his Italian counterpart expressing his condolences over the collapse of a giant motorway bridge in Genoa, which led to the deaths and injuries of dozens of people.

In the letter to President Sergio Mattarella, Rouhani said he was deeply saddened by the news of deaths of Italians in the collapse of the Morandi Bridge in the city of Genoa, Tasnim reported.

Italian officials say 39 people were killed when dozens of vehicles fell 45m (148ft) from the Morandi Bridge during torrential rain on Tuesday.
