|Iran says won’t send ambassador back to Bahrain||
TEHRAN - A top Iranian diplomat announced on Friday that Tehran will not reciprocate the move by Bahrain to reinstate its ambassador as the Manama government continues to repress the pro-democracy movement in the country.
“The return of Bahrain’s ambassador to Tehran is the decision of Bahrain’s government, but Tehran will not send its ambassador to Manama” as long as the Bahraini government continues to crack down on the people, said Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and North African affairs.
According to AFP, the Amnesty International says 60 people have been killed since the protests first erupted in Bahrain in February last year.
The harsh crackdown is continuing unabated in Bahrain. For example, the country’s Interior Ministry announced on Saturday that security forces have shot dead a teenager as a group of protesters attacked police with petrol bombs near Manama.
