|51 countries will participate in NAM summit at high level||
TEHRAN – Fifty-one countries will participate in the upcoming summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran at a high level, said Ali Saeedlou, the director of the center tasked with holding the summit.
The XVI Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement is scheduled to be held from August 26 to 31.
Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Saeedlou stated that about 51 countries have so far announced that they will participate in the summit at the level of president, prime minister, king, and vice president and this number will probably increase.
He added that about 150 delegations have announced that they will attend the conference.
Representatives of about 20 international organizations will attend the NAM meeting and there will be some special guests, Saeedlou stated.
It was also announced on Wednesday that Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Libyan Foreign Minister Ashour Bin Khayal, Tunisian Foreign Minister Rafik Abdessalem, and South African Foreign Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane will attend the summit.
