Ambassador Es’haq Ale-Habib made the remarks during a meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday.

During his speech, Ale-Habib expressed hope that Brahimi would make efforts to work out a political and comprehensive solution to the crisis in Syria, adding that Iran supports a Syrian-led peaceful, constructive, and unbiased process to help improve the situation.

Syria’s territorial integrity can be safeguarded and unity can be promoted in the country only through such a process, he stated.

The Iranian ambassador also said that acts of interference in Syria’s internal affairs taken by certain countries, including the shipment of weaponry for Syrian rebels, have aggravated the situation in the Arab country.
