Ahmadinejad travels to New York for final visit to UN

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_02_ep7.jpgTEHRAN – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad left Tehran for New York on Saturday to attend the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech on Wednesday. 
 
It is Ahmadinejad’s final visit to the UN General Assembly as president of Iran. 
 
The session opened at the UN Headquarters on Tuesday and closes on September 30.
 
The Persian service of the Mehr News Agency reported on Saturday that 100 people are accompanying Ahmadinejad during his visit. 
 
According to the report, 160 people had applied for visas to accompany the president, but visas have not been granted to 60 applicants so far. 
 
The Iranian president is scheduled to hold meetings with a number of officials participating in the session and give several interviews. 
 
Ahmadinejad had said on Wednesday that he would focus on the importance of the Non-Aligned Movement during his speech at the assembly’s session.
