It was announced on Saturday that the Iranian aid workers had been released and handed over to the Iranian Embassy in Tripoli.

The aid workers arrived at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport on Sunday.

They had visited Libya at the invitation of the Libyan Red Crescent to discuss “various cooperation prospects in the field of humanitarian aid.”

Speaking during an open session of the Majlis, Larijani also thanked the families of the aid workers for remaining patient.

It was previously reported that the kidnappers had demanded that Iranian officials take action to obtain the release of tens of Libyan nationals being held in Iraqi prisons in return for the release of the abductees.
