Iran will make every effort to help restore peace in Syria, Ahmadinejad tells Brahimi

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_12-10-15-9469untitled.bmp.jpgTEHRAN - Lakhdar Brahimi, the new UN-Arab League joint special envoy on Syria, met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran late on Sunday. 
During the meeting, Ahmadinejad said that Iran believes in the fundamental principle that nations have the right to elect their leaders and no decision should be imposed on them from outside.    
He stated that the best solution to the Syrian crisis would be national dialogue, adding that the Syrian people should be allowed to vote in a free election and everyone should respect the results. 
Ahmadinejad also reiterated that Iran is ready to make every effort to help restore peace in the Arab country. 
Brahimi briefed the Iranian president on his latest activities and asked Iran to cooperate to help defuse the crisis.
