Border police foiled 5 terrorist attacks in 8 months: general

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_02_mh15(2).jpgTEHRAN – Brigadier General Hossein Zolfaqari, the commander of the National Border Police, announced on Saturday that over the past eight months, five terrorist attacks have been repulsed in various parts of the country.
 
Commenting on the capability of the border police to maintain security along the country’s borders, Zolfaqari said, “Terrorist groups are seeking to commit acts of terror in the country before special events, but since February, we have identified and repelled five terrorist attacks.”
 
He also said that during the period, the alcoholic drink seizures have decreased, but smuggled fuel seizures have increased by 75%. 
 
The border police have also seized 53 tons of illicit drugs over the period, which shows an increase of 39% compared with the same period last year, Zolfaqari stated.
