|NAM calls on UN to take action on Israeli attacks against Palestinians||
TEHRAN – In a statement issued on Thursday, Iran and other members of the Non-Aligned Movement called on the United Nations Security Council to take a decisive action in regard to Israel’s recent major military operation against the Palestinian people.
Following is the text of the statement:
Israel, the occupying power, is, once more, escalating its military campaign against the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Stip. The new round of aggression includes the perpetration of extrajudicial killings and the launch of dozens of missile and air strikes against civilian areas in Gaza resulting in the killing and injury of many Palestinians, including women and children. The situation in the rest of the occupied Palestinian territory, including the East Jerusalem, is also deteriorating as a result of Israeli excessive use of force aimed at intimidating and terrorizing the Palestinian civilian population.
The Coordination Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement strongly condemns this latest military campaign against the Palestinian people and believes that this act of aggression by the Israelis and their resort to force against the defenseless people demand the immediate attention of the whole international community and require decisive action by the UN Security Council, which is primarily responsible for maintaining international peace and security.
