“Today’s evening, the Presiding Board sent a letter to the administration, inviting the president to appear before the Majlis to deliver his speech at 8:30 on Wednesday morning,” Monadi, who is a member of the Majlis Presiding Board, told the Persian service of IRNA.

Monadi said that the president’s speech will last one hour and a half.

In the letter, it has been stated it is expected that the president will stay after his speech to hear MPs’ comments, he added.

It was announced on January 6 that the president had written a letter to Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani saying that he wanted to attend an open session of the parliament to brief MPs on the country’s current affairs.

According to Economy Minister Shamsedin Hosseini, Ahmadinejad’s speech will focus on the issue of the implementation of the second phase of the subsidy reform plan, which is a matter of disagreement between the Majlis and the administration.

The administration says that the second phase of the plan must be implemented, while the Majlis argues that it will fuel inflation.
